UAE’s NDC adds new oilrig
ABU DHABI, August 20, 2014 – The UAE’s state-owned oilfield services firm, National Drilling Company (NDC), announced the inauguration of a new land rig on Sunday to increase its number of rigs to 58.
The company’s fleet expansion covers offshore and onshore rigs and will facilitate the expansion of production capacity at many of Abu Dhabi’s mature oil- and gasfields through the incremental drilling of new production wells.
NDC CEO Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi told Emirates News Agency that the drilling firm has doubled its rig count over the past four years, from 28 in 2009 to 58 today.
NDC is expected to continue procuring rigs with a view towards commanding an eventual fleet of between 65 and 70 rigs by 2016.
