USA’s third-largest oil state shuts wells as wildfires rage
BISMARCK, October 8, 2024 – North Dakota has recorded a drop of 60,000-90,000 bopd of oil production as wildfires rage across the US state, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
With 5 billion barrels of crude oil reserves as of end-2022, North Dakota ranks as the USA’s third-largest oil-holding and -producing state, after Texas and New Mexico. As of July, the state was producing 1.16 million bopd.
Gas production across the state was also down by between 170 mcf and 260 mcf per day.
ExxonMobil confirmed it has shut multiple well sites due to the blazes.
