Vard Holdings to build vessel for Kruez Subsea

SINGAPORE, June 9, 2015 – Norway’s Vard Holdings, a designer and builder of specialised offshore vessels, has won a contract to design and construct a diving support and construction vessel for Singapore’s Kreuz Subsea group.

The DP2-class vessel, capable of operations in depths of up to 300 metres, will be 91.2-metres long by 21.5-metres wide and have a 100-tonne active heave compensated offshore crane.

Divers will be housed in the vessel’s three saturation living chambers and perform work via its diving system, which is comprised of a single bell system with a capacity for 12 people. Remotely operated vehicles can also be controlled from the ship. It will be built by subsidiary Vard Tulcea in Romania and is expected for delivery by the second quarter of 2017.

Kreuz Subsea is a subsea services provider and operates a fleet of multipurpose support vessels, remotely operated vehicles, and saturation and surface-supplied diving systems.
