Wood picked by TotalEnergies for Iraq gas project
BASRA, April 22, 2025 – Wood has been awarded two new engineering and procurement framework agreements by TotalEnergies EP Ratawi Hub for the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) at the Ratawi field in Iraq, Wood announced on Monday.
Each of the contracts will last three years and will centre around the Associated Gas Upstream Project (AGUP), which is part of the GGIP and aims to de-bottleneck and upgrade existing facilities to increase production capacity to 120,000 bopd in a first phase. The total value of the contracts is USD 11 million.
The GGIP includes the capture of about 1.4 mcm per day of flared gas to supply power generation plants, as well as the construction of a seawater treatment unit and a 1-GW solar power plant.
“We have an extensive track record in brownfield facility modifications and are committed to delivering safe, quality and innovative outcomes for TotalEnergies. We have hired 70 Iraqis to work at the Ratawi operations hub across a range of disciplines including HSE, logistics, quality, construction, welding, electrical and document control,” said Shaun Dewar, Wood’s senior vice-president of operations, Middle East and Africa.
The contracts will be delivered by Wood’s teams in Iraq and the UAE. Wood has been supporting production at the Ratawi field since 2003, and the company is already providing engineering design, detailed design, procurement support and construction and commissioning assistance for the first phase of the AGUP.
