The FEED contract was awarded late December 2021 to US engineering company Kellogg, Brown & Root.
Phase one of the project involves development of a 290-MW station that will produce 90 tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day through electrolysis. The facility in Westmore Industrial Park in Ardmore has the potential to expand its capacity by 260 MW and 90 tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day.
The project is expected to reach first production in 2025 and will target the heavy transport centre.
