Woodside picks DeepOcean for Sangomar work in Senegal

DAKAR, June 20, 2024 – Woodside Energy has awarded DeepOcean a contract to provide subsea inspection, maintenance and repair services for the Sangomar field located offshore Senegal, DeepOcean announced on Wednesday.

Scope of work includes project management, engineering and execution of subsea services such as inspection, survey, intervention and maintenance, as well as additional services such as underwater inspection of FPSO and standalone ROV operations.

DeepOcean subsidiary Searov Offshore will carry out the work jointly with Senegalese services company Teranga Oil and Gas.

“We have extensive experience from similar IMR operations offshore West Africa, but this is our first project offshore Senegal and with Woodside. We look forward to demonstrating our competence and extensive pool of specialist subsea tools and underwater assets,” said Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.

The Sangomar deepwater oilfield commenced production in June 2024 from a standalone 100,000-bpd-capacity FPSO vessel, the Leopold Sedar Senghor. Production ramp-up will continue through 2024 and the subsea infrastructure in place will allow for further development phases.

To date, 23 wells have been drilled, including 11 for production, 10 for water injection and two for gas injection.
