Russia’s Novak out as energy minister

MOSCOW, November 9, 2020 – Russia’s long-serving energy minister, Alexander Novak, is stepping down after being recommended for the post of deputy prime minister.

The recommendation, made by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, is expected to be approved by the country’s lower house of parliament, the State Duma.

As part of the reshuffle, Nikolai Shulginov, chairman of state hydropower company RusHydro, has been put forward as the new energy minister.

Alexander Kozlov, currently the minister for the development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, has been recommended for appointment as natural resources and environment minister.
