Saipem secures $500-million trunkline contract in Saudi Arabia

DAMMAM, February 24, 2026 – Saipem has secured an offshore contract release purchase order under its long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco for offshore EPCI work worth approximately USD 500 million, Saipem announced on Monday.

The contract covers EPCI of a 48-inch trunkline that will run approximately 65 kilometres offshore and 12 kilometres onshore, along with associated subsea infrastructure in the shallow-water Safaniyah field. Located in the Gulf off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, Safaniyah has a production capacity of approximately 1.2 million bopd and is the world’s largest offshore oilfield.

Offshore operations will be executed by vessels currently deployed by Saipem in the region, and fabrication will be undertaken at the Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid (STAR) Fabricators yard in Dammam. The facility is currently engaged in a Saudi Aramco work order for 34 kilometres of 20-inch and 30-inch pipeline and topside structures for the Berri and Abu Safah offshore fields.

Saipem is eligible to bid for Saudi Aramco work orders for new production and capacity expansion projects under a long-term framework agreement that was renewed in April 2025 and will run until the end of 2027 under its current extension.
