Vaalco to develop major discovery offshore Côte d’Ivoire

ABIDJAN, February 24, 2026 – Vaalco Energy has taken operatorship of a significant offshore oilfield in Côte d’Ivoire with a 60% working interest, the company said on Monday.
The company will lead development of the Kossipo field on the CI-40 block, discovered in 2002 and appraised in 2019. Estimated gross 2C resources stand at 102 million boe, with 293 million barrels in place.
A field development plan will be submitted in the second half of 2026, supported by new seismic data. The Baobab Ivorien FPSO is expected to return to Côte d’Ivoire by late March, the company said.
“We have been confirmed as the operator with a 60% working interest in the Kossipo field, a discovery with an estimated 293 million boe in place located southwest from our highly productive Baobab field,” Vaalco CEO George Maxwell said.
The compa ny also announced that in Gabon it has brought the Etame 15H-ST well on stream with a stabilised rate of around 2,000 bopd. The company has also spudded a new exploration well in West Etame from the same platform, targeting first results by mid-March.
