Friedlander: oil and gas engineering for the Ortec Group

Friedlander has provided tailor-made engineering services for the oil and gas industry since 1936, including fabrication, installation and maintenance works for onshore, offshore and subsea structures. It joined the Ortec Group in 1996, which gave the company a presence in 24 countries and four continents. The company has operated in Angola since 1997. Friedlander’s Angolan entity has 90% local employees and perceives itself as an Angolan company. The company’s main strengths are combining expertise with in-country knowhow in manufacturing and construction sectors. The company complies with international standards and is certified with ISO 9001. 

  • Main activities: The company’s subsea operations revolve around steel fabrication for subsea trees, manifolds and umbilicals. However, its portfolio also includes tailored services such as studies, project management and commissioning for the onshore industry.
  • In Africa: Friedlander’s long-term presence in Africa has allowed the company to target different segments of the oil and gas industry, with capacities to operate in the upstream and downstream sector such as storage and distribution of tanks.
  • Looking at the future: The company aims to adapt its skills with the latest technological advancements  to increase productivity, quality and security. The local entity uses new-generation digital tools for welding and new cutting machines that optimise cost and time.
  • Strategy ahead: Sustainable growth, gradual development and commitment to train Angolans are part of Friedlander’s local strategy.
