$31-bln LNG Canada project approved: report

OTTAWA, October 1, 2018 – Shell and its partners have made an FID on the CAD 40-billion (USD 31-billion) LNG Canada project, international media reported on Monday.
Bloomberg reported the decision, which was not yet made public at the time of the report’s publication, and cited sources saying it could be announced as early as later on Monday.
Shell is the operator of the project, which would simplify deliveries of gas from North America to customers in Asia, with a 40% stake in it. Its partners are Petronas (25%), PetroChina and Mitsubishi (15% each), and Korea Gas (5%).
