Angola signs PSCs for eight onshore blocks

LUANDA, August 9, 2022 – Angola’s National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency has signed the PSCs for eight blocks awarded in the country’s 2020 bid round, the national concessionaire announced on Friday.

Canada’s MTI Energy is now operator of CON5, KON5, KON17 and KON20 blocks, with 50%, 60%, 60% and 50% stakes, respectively.

 

Angolan player Somoil has secured a 40% operating stake of Block CON1 along with a 43.75% participation in Block CON6.

The Kwanza onshore block KON6 is now operated by Grupo Simples with a 50% share, with the IOC taking partnering stakes in the Kwanza basin’s KON5, KON8 and KON9 blocks.

The plays were awarded in September 2021.
