Argentina launches Vaca Muerta pipeline tender

BUENOS AIRES, June 7, 2022 – Energía Argentina has launched a tender for the construction of the Presidente Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline to deliver growing production from the Vaca Muerta formation, the state-owned energy company announced on Friday.

Companies are to submit their bids by July 8, 2022. The bidding process is expected to be complete in August 2022.

The 563-kilometre gas pipeline will run from Neuquén, Treatyén, to Salliqueló, Buenos Aires, crossing both Rio Negro and La Pampa provinces. Construction is expected to take around 18 months.

The proposed USD 1.5-billion asset will expand the country’s national pipeline system by 25% and is part of the country’s aim to overturn its energy deficit.

Vaca Muerta is the second-largest gas shale play in the world.
