Argentina to let go of LNG import terminal
BUENOS AIRES, October 18, 2018 – Argentina is planning to terminate its contract with a floating regasification terminal due to rising domestic shale output, international media reported on Wednesday.
An agreement with Excelerate Energy, which owns the ship currently located at the port of Bahia Blanca, will not be extended after its expiration at the end of October, Bloomberg reported, citing two anonymous sources.
The news came weeks after Argentina announced plans to restart gas exports to Chile, a move enabled by rapidly rising production at the Vaca Muerta shale play.
