Baker Hughes to deploy automated solution in Nigeria
LAGOS, February 5, 2025 – Baker Hughes and Nigeria’s NNPC/First E&P JV have signed an agreement under which the US energy technology company will deploy its Leucipa automated field production solution, the company announced on Monday.
Leucipa optimises well performance and enhances efficiency and minimises CO2 emissions through the automation of performance analysis, opportunity management and scorecard management. Moreover, the solution provides its data in real time, which allows for improved in-field decision making.
Amerino Gatti, Baker Hughes’s executive vice president of oilfield services and equipment, said, “Leucipa is enhancing the oilfield to be smarter and more efficient, enabling our customers to maximise the value of their assets.”
The solution will be deployed at NNPC/First E&P JV’s offshore operations in the Niger Delta, where the companies operate under Oil Mining Licences 83 (Anyala field) and 85 (Madu field). The goal of the JV is to produce 100,000 bopd.
The use of Leucipa in Nigeria represents the first time the solution has been implemented in sub-Saharan Africa. It is also a demonstration of the growing sophistication of Nigeria’s indigenous offshore operators.
