Blocks awarded in Brazil pre-salt auction

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 7, 2018 – Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, known as ANP, held the 4th Pre-Salt Bidding Round on Thursday, awarding three of the four offshore blocks on offer.

A record 16 companies were registered to participate in the event, and seven major operators walked away as winners of PSCs.

 

Uirapuru, the most contested block in the auction, saw proposals from four different consortiums. A Petrobras-led group including Petrogal, Equinor (formerly Statoil) and ExxonMobil won the block, offering to give the government 75.49% of produced oil.

Another consortium including Petrobras acquired the Três Marias block with a 49.95% offer of oil. The NOC’s partners in the block are Chevron and Shell.

A consortium of Petrobras, Equinor and BP was the sole bidder for the Dois Irmãos block, offering a share of 16.43% of oil. The last area, Itaimbezinho, garnered no proposals.

The complete results of the auction are as follows:
1. Uirapuru – Petrobras (30%), Equinor (28%), ExxonMobil (28%), Petrogal (14%)
2. Três Marias – Shell (40%), Petrobras (30%), Chevron (30%)
3. Dois Irmãos – Petrobras (45%), BP (30%), Equinor (25%)
4. Itaimbezinho – Unawarded
