BP hires flotel for UK’s North Sea Seagull project

ABERDEEN, September 20, 2021 – BP Exploration Operating Company has signed a contract for Prosafe’s Safe Zephyrus accommodation vessel to support the Seagull project on the UK’s North Sea, the semi-submersible vessel provider announced on Friday.

The 10-month contract will begin in Q1 2022 with a four-month extension option.

 

The initial contract is worth USD 35.5 million but could grow to USD 49.3 million if it is extended.

The Safe Zephyrus has 1,000 metres of deck space, two 50-tonne hydraulic cranes and a crew of 450.

The Seagull field is 300 kilometres offshore from Aberdeen. Neptune Energy holds a 35% stake as operator, with BP holding a 50% stake and Japan Petroleum Exploration the remaining 15%.
