Iraq launches gas processing plant

BAGHDAD, September 20, 2021 – Iraq has relaunched a gas processing project with Baker Hughes in the southern province of Dhi Qar, the oil ministry announced on Sunday.
The 5.6-mcm (200-mcf) associated petroleum gas processing plant will be fed from the Nasiriyah and Al-Gharraf fields.
The gas is currently being flared.
The project is part of the government’s plan to boost gas production to reduce imports from Iran.
Although started in 2018, the unit was delayed due to low commodity prices.
