Brazilian president signs new midstream legislation
BRASILIA, December 20, 2018 – Brazilian President Michel Temer has signed new legislation that will provide for the possibility of third-party access to Petrobras’ midstream infrastructure, international media reported Wednesday.
The presidential decree allows for the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels to establish terms for companies seeking to access existing pipelines and regasification terminals, something which will lead to a reduced Petrobras presence and more competition in the sector, Argus reported.
Regulators hope to diversify the field of natural gas suppliers signing contracts with state-owned distributors.
