Buru Energy strikes gas in Western Australia

Australia

PERTH, March 8, 2022 – Buru Energy has hit gas on its Rafael-1 test well in the Canning Basin in Western Australia, the local oil and gas producer announced today.

Testing using the Ensign 963 rig on the Ungani field revealed gas production of 177,000 cubic metres (6.52 mcf) per day, the first discovery of sustained gas flow on the Canning Basin.

The E&P company said the structure contained a total gross reservoir of 165 metres, of which 50% were possible net reservoirs.

The company has a 50:50 partnership with local integrated energy company Origin Energy on Block EP 428, which contains the field.
