Cairn India begins polymer injection

MUMBAI, October 31, 2014 – On Friday, Cairn India announced the beginning of its three-year, $1.3- billion polymer injection programme in the Mangala field. The programme is part of a wider $3-billion development programme that includes enhanced oil recovery from the main fields of the Barmer Basin, development of the Barmer Hill hydrocarbons formation and of gas reserves in the Raageshwari field.

 

Part of Rajasthan’s Barmer Basin, the Mangala field was discovered in 2004 and is considered to be one of the largest onshore hydrocarbons finds in India. Mangala produces about 180,000 barrels per day of crude oil along with the Bhagyam and Aishwariya fields.
