CB&I wins ammonia storage EPC contract from Saipem
Australia MURUJUGA, October 10, 2024 – CB&I has won a contract to provide EPC for ammonia storage facilities in Australia from the Saipem-Clough joint venture, parent company McDermott announced on Thursday.
Works will take place at the Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers Urea Plant on the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia.
The contract is valued at between USD 10 million and 50 million.
Under the contract, CB&I will provide EPC services for a 10,000-tonne full containment ammonia storage tank and associated piping to grade, as well as 10 API650 storage tanks.
Q1 2025 will see the start of CB&I’s construction activities, and the project is slated for completion in 2028.
In May 2022, Saipem and Australian EPC player Clough won the overall EPC contract for the plant, valued at more than USD 2.7 billion.
CB&I designs and builds storage facilities, tanks and terminals and has a global presence. It became part of McDermott in 2018 when the two companies combined.
Earlier this month, McDermott announced plans to sell CB&I to a consortium of financial investors led by Mason Capital Management for USD 475 million.
The deal, for which McDermott said it had received multiple bids, is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
