CGG wins contract for Kuwait-Saudi zone

PARIS, March 30, 2017 – CGG GeoConsulting has been awarded a multi-year deal for a geophysical study of the Partitioned Neutral Zone (PNZ), the company announced on Thursday.

Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, which heads Kuwaiti operations at the zone located between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, awarded the contract. Its value was not disclosed.

CGG said in a press release its work will “integrate recently acquired and processed 3D seismic data covering the entire PZ together with multiple geological, petrophysical and production data sets.”

Kuwait Gulf Oil Company experts will participate in the studies.

CGG is a geoscience company that provides services and equipment internationally, mainly to the oil and gas industry.

Most activities at the PNZ have halted as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia resolve a dispute. However, studies of the area have continued.

The PNZ measures around 5,700 square kilometres and holds an estimated 5 billion barrels of oil in reserves.
