Chevron readies to explore Mediterranean assets

CAIRO, April 25, 2023 – Chevron is readying a tender for a drillship to explore natural gas options in Cyprus, Egypt and Israel, Reuters reported on Monday.

According to the company, the tender could be issued as early as Q2 2023 following government approvals.

Chevron is currently in the process of fast-tracking development of the Aphrodite gasfield in the southeast of Cyprus that is expected to hold around 127 bcm (4.5 tcf) of gas.

The US energy giant also operates the offshore Leviathan field in Israel that currently produces around 12 bcm (424 bcf) of gas per year and supplies Israel, Egypt and Jordan.
