ConocoPhillips joins Qatar’s LNG expansion efforts

DOHA, October 31, 2022 – QatarEnergy has chosen US energy giant ConocoPhillips to hold a 6.25% stake in its North Field South LNG expansion project in Qatar, the NOC announced on Sunday.
The partnership completes the 25% interest available to international entities in the project following Shell obtaining a 9.375% stake in the project earlier in October and TotalEnergies taking a similar 9.375% stake in September 2022.
Qatar Energy will retain the remaining 75% stake.
The North Field South project will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 16 million tonnes per year.
The development is part of the greater North Field expansion development, including North Field South and North Field East. QatarEnergy aims to produce 48 million tonnes per year of LNG by 2027 from the entire project.
