Daewoo bags $630-million Qatar engineering contract

DOHA, July 16, 2021 – Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won a contract worth USD 630 million to supply a fixed platform to Qatar’s Al Shaheen oilfield, the company announced earlier this week.

The offshore platform will consist of topsides, a jacket and an interconnection bridge. Brownfield integration works on existing host platforms will be included in the works. The deck will weigh 20,000 tonnes and the jacket 10,000 tonnes.

Fabrication works for the topsides will be done at DSME’s Okpo yard in South Korea and the topsides will depart the yard in H2 2023. The jacket and bridges will be fabricated by a subcontractor.

The platform will sit on the North Oil Company’s Al Shaheen Gallaf Project.
