
Eneva acquires key energy assets in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, June 2, 2022 – Eneva has signed a USD 6.1-billion share purchase agreement with US energy infrastructure player New Fortress Energy for full equity of the Porto de Sergipe power plant in Barra dos Coqueiros, Brazil, the Brazilian independent announced on Wednesday.
The 1.59-GW thermoelectric power plant is operated by New Fortress Energy’s Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe Participações, which will pass to Eneva.
As part of the deal, the Brazilian energy company will also acquire 100% interest in Centrais Elétricas Barra dos Coqueiros, which owns 1.7 GW of expansion rights next to the site, valued at USD 2.16 billion.
Eneva will take on the debt of Centrais Elétricas Barra dos Coqueiros’s fully owned subsidiary Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe.
New Fortress Energy will continue to operate the Golar Nanook FSRU that is chartered to Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe for 20 years.
