Eni, Equinor, TotalEnergies bid for Angola blocks

LUANDA, April 6, 2022 – Angolan authorities on Tuesday opened bids submitted in the country’s 2021 bid round, revealing that Eni, Equinor and TotalEnergies are vying for stakes in two of the eight blocks on offer.

Eni and Equinor bid as 50-50 partners to take Block 31/21, with Eni as operator. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies is seeking a 100% stake in Block 16/21.

The country’s National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) will respond to the proposals within 15 days.

The 2021 bid round covered blocks in the Lower Congo and Kwanza offshore basins. Both of the blocks receiving interest are in the Lower Congo Basin.

The six blocks which did not receive bids will remain eligible for direct proposals under the country’s recently enacted permanent offer regime, the ANPG said.
