Eni starts up Ghana’s Sankofa field

ACCRA, July 5, 2018 – Ghana’s gas production is expected to double with the successful launching of the Sankofa field in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) development, operator Eni announced on Wednesday.

Output at the field is expected to soon reach 5.1 mcm (180 mcf) of gas per day and is earmarked solely for use in the domestic market, the statement added.

“OCTP gas will contribute to Ghana’s energy stability, which is a prerequisite for industrial and economic growth, while at the same time helping reduce harmful emissions,” said Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.

Eni has a 44.44% operating stake in the OCTP project, which achieved first production last year. The company’s partners there are Vitol (35.56%) and NOC Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (20%).
