Eni, IRENA team up for renewables drive

ROME, October 1, 2021 – Eni has signed an agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to share know-how and push up the clock on the energy transition, the Italian energy company announced on Thursday.

In particular, the two entities aim to further introduce biofuels in Africa through institutional capacity building, agribusiness and industrial development initiatives.

“The agreement with IRENA is a step forward Eni’s pledge to reach net zero by 2050, as it leverages renewables and other technological and industrial solutions to successfully face the energy transition,” said Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni.
