Eni to tender Amoca FPSO: report

MEXICO CITY , March 30, 2018 – Italian major Eni is seeking companies to develop a mid-sized FPSO capable of processing heavy and light crudes for its Amoca field in Mexico, international media reported on Thursday.

The company’s deadline for bids is June, several anonymous sources told Upstream Online. Possible bidders for the work include Malaysia’s Burmi Armada, Dutch firm SBM Offshore and Modec of Japan. The online publication also reported that in mid-April, Eni will receive bids from the likes of Saipem and McDermott for a repurposed wellhead platform.

The Amoca field is located in shallow-water Contract Area 1, which Eni won as an individual bidder in Round 1.2 in September 2015.

In December 2017, Eni upgraded the block’s resource estimates to 2 billion boe, saying that it would fast-track development, with an eye to reach first production from Amoca by H1 2019. As such, the field could become Mexico’s first privately-operated offshore development.
