ExxonMobil partners for Indonesian CCS projects

JAKARTA, November 3, 2021 – ExxonMobil has signed an MoU with state-run Pertamina to evaluate potential for carbon capture and storage projects in Indonesia, the American multinational announced on Tuesday.

The two companies will explore the possibility of carbon capture, utilisation and storage and low-carbon hydrogen.

“We are evaluating large-scale carbon capture and storage projects that have the potential to make the greatest impact in the highest-emitting sectors around the world, and there are opportunities in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia,” said Joe Blommaert, president of ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions.

ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions is also evaluating similar projects in the Netherlands, France, Wyoming and Texas.

The agreement was signed near Glasgow, Scotland, during the COP26 climate change conference.
