
First hydrogen-diesel truck launched in Oman
MUSCAT, March 16, 2023 – Oman has inaugurated its first dual hydrogen-diesel truck, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced on Sunday.
The combined combustion technology allows the vehicle to switch between operating on pure diesel or a combination of diesel and hydrogen depending on driving conditions to cut down on carbon emissions.
The engine was supplied by a local Omani company and the engine supplied by a German entity.
Oman is upping its hydrogen agenda, highlighted by six agreements signed with international players to develop hydrogen projects in March 2023.
In October 2022, the country set a goal to ramp up production of green hydrogen to between 1 million tonnes and 1.25 million tonnes by 2030.
