Trinidad launches talks with Venezuela on Dragon gasfield

CARACAS, March 15, 2023 – Trinidadian Minister of Energy Stuart Young has signed an NDA as part of launching official negotiations in Venezuela for the development of the Dragon offshore gasfield.
Talks began on Tuesday in Caracas between the Trinidadian team and Venezuela’s state-owned oil giant PDVSA, according to a social media post by the minister.
In January, Trinidad and Tobago was granted a licence by the US government to develop the offshore Dragon gasfield, located in Venezuelan territorial waters.
The move allowed the Trinidadian government to do business with PDVSA in relation to the 113-bcm (4-tcf) field – a co-operation previously barred under US sanctions.
