Fortress ships first LNG cargo from Altamira, Mexico
NEW YORK, October 1, 2024 – US energy infrastructure company New Fortress Energy has achieved its first full cargo and sail away from the Fast LNG asset offshore Altamira, Mexico, the company announced on Monday.
The cargo was loaded on the Energos Princess and is bound for Europe.
Fast LNG is a modular offshore natural gas liquefaction facility built on platforms, with one each for gas treatment, liquefaction and utilities. With a production capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per year, the facility is designed for fast offshore deployment and can capture stranded gas or gas that might have otherwise been flared.
“This is a significant milestone for our Fast LNG installation. Natural gas and power are critical components of a sustainable, affordable and cleaner energy system and we’re excited to provide our gas supply to world markets,” said Wes Edens, Chairman and CEO of New Fortress Energy.
Fast LNG wound up commissioning and concluded a pre-production run in August 2024 with the delivery of a partial cargo to New Fortress Energy’s terminal in La Paz, Mexico.
