GE and L&T sign MoU in India
CHENNAI, August 15, 2016 – GE signed a memorandum of understanding with L&T for the manufacturing of subsea equipment for India’s Kirshna-Godavari Basin on the country’s eastern coast, the American energy firm announced on Wednesday.
The deal was made with L&T’s wholly owned subsidiary L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering for production from their 600,000-square-metre modular fabrication plant in Tamil Nadu. The asset is equipped with welding and fabrication facilities, including a 150-metre jetty. The agreement marks India’s pioneering into local seabed equipment manufacturing.
L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering’s CEO, Subramanian Sarma, said the move will broaden L&T’s offering in deepsea technology and allow the firm to contribute to India’s growth curve.
