Greece’s Corinth Pipeworks wins Trion contract in Mexico
MEXICO CITY, July 10, 2024 – Corinth Pipeworks has been awarded a contract by Woodside Energy to manufacture and supply steel pipes for the Trion deepwater project in Mexico, the Greek company said on Tuesday.
The company will supply around 118 kilometres of high-frequency welded (HFW) steel pipes for the Gulf of Mexico development.
The Trion project is a pioneering deepwater development being undertaken by Woodside with a 60% interest alongside Pemex E&P with a 40% stake. It is set to deliver Mexico’s first oil production from its deepwater.
The field is located in the Perdido Fold Belt at water depths of around 2,500 metres, approximately 180 kilometres offshore Mexico.
A statement from Corinth Pipeworks said the contract award recognised “the benefits of our welded pipe technology for critical offshore applications.”
“This award underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the stringent demands of deepwater energy developments,” general manager Ilias Bekiros said.
Corinth Pipeworks, the steel pipe segment of Cenergy Holdings, is a steel pipe manufacturer for the global energy and construction sectors. It has executed projects in more than 55 countries in areas ranging from offshore flowlines, onshore gas pipelines and hydrogen pipelines to piping for carbon capture, utilisation and storage projects.
The company operates a manufacturing plant in Thisvi, Greece, with a capacity of 925,000 tonnes per year.
