Green light given on Trion development offshore Mexico

MEXICO CITY, June 20, 2023 – Woodside Energy has made its FID to develop the offshore Trion field in Mexico, the Australian energy player announced on Tuesday.
The USD 7.2-billion project will involve an FPU with a production capacity of 100,000 bopd connected to an FSO vessel with a capacity of 950,000 bopd.
Up to 24 wells are planned in the project’s life cycle, with 18 planned in the initial phase.
The field is expected to contain 479 million barrels of oil.
The project is contingent on government approval.
Woodside Energy acquired the play through its merger with fellow Australian independent BHP Group’s oil and gas vertical in June 2022.
