Grupo R takes delivery of rigs
Mexico Cantarell II
Cantarell 1 and Cantarell 2 are classified as KFELS B jackup rigs, designed to drill to more than 9,000 m in as much as 122 m of water. Built in Singapore in 2015, the rigs can accommodate 150 people. With the arrival of the two self-elevating units, the total number of KFELS B class rigs in Mexican waters comes to 10.
Mexico’s Cantarell complex, with reserves to the tune of 35 billion barrels of oil, comprises the Akal, Nohoch, Chac and Kutz fields, and covers an area of 181 square kilometres. Work on Cantarell 3 and 4 is underway in Singapore.
