Hess starts up US offshore field

HONG KONG, February 6, 2018 – Hess has started production at the Stampede deepwater field in the Gulf of Mexico, partner CNOOC announced on Monday.

 

“The facility is designed for a gross topsides processing capacity of approximately 80,000 barrels of oil per day, 40 mcf [1.13 mcm ] of natural gas per day, and 100,000 barrels of water injection capacity per day,” the company statement said. 

“Under the current development scope, production facilities will consist of six subsea production wells and four water injection wells tied back to a tension leg platform (TLP). Three production wells are currently completed, and production is expected to ramp up through 2018.”

Operator Hess, CNOOC, Chevron and Statoil each hold 25% stakes in the project.
