India’s DHG offers eight blocks in latest bid round

NEW DELHI, December 20, 2021 – India’s Directorate General of Hydrocarbons has greenlit its latest bid round, which will feature eight oil and gas blocks, the regulatory body announced on Friday.

Bids for the seventh bid round of the Open Acreage Licensing Policy are due by February 15, 2022.

All blocks cover a total area of 15,766 square kilometres and feature five onshore plays, two shallow-water plays and one ultra-deepwater play.

Onshore licences are located on the Assam Arakan belt and Rajasthan, Cambay, Vindhyan and Krishna Godavari basins. Offshore licences are on the Cauvery, Cambay, Kutch, Mumbai and Krishna Godavari basins.

The move is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plans to reduce India’s dependency on oil imports by 10% in the coming years.
