Indonesia, Iran step up energy ties

TEHRAN, December 15, 2016 – Indonesian and Iranian officials signed an MoU on energy co-operation on Wednesday that will involve sales of Iranian LPG.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met in Tehran to speak about expanding collaboration on energy during a two-day visit by Indonesian officials.

 

Among the deals is an LPG purchase agreement that will see Indonesia buy 500,000 tonnes from Iran in 2017.

Iranian officials spoke of building mobile power plants in Indonesia, as well as an oil refinery on Java.

In a separate deal on Wednesday, an unnamed Indonesian company agreed to collaborate with Iran’s National Petrochemical Company on building petrochemicals plants in Iran. The deal was reported by Shana, the news portal of Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum.
