Iraq eyes major oil projects

BAGHDAD, December 26, 2018 – Iraq is to sign a deal with ExxonMobil and China National Petroleum Corporation for a major energy project soon, international media reported on Wednesday.

 

The project, expected to be located in the south of the country, will allow Baghdad to increase the loading capacity of its crude export terminals to 6.5 million bopd, Reuters reported.

The news came days after Iraq struck an agreement with Schlumberger for the drilling of 40 wells at the giant Majnoon field on December 19. The price tag of the deal was not disclosed.
