Maersk Drilling signs drillship contract with Shell

Denmark

COPENHAGEN, April 4, 2022 – Maersk Drilling has been awarded a USD 107.5-million contract for the provision of its Maersk Voyager drillship to Shell over a one-year period in multiple countries, the Danish offshore drilling contractor announced today.

The cost includes mobilisation fees but does not include expected integrated services and performance bonuses. The contract also includes a possible one-year extension.

Works will involve Maersk Drilling subsidiary Horizon56’s Rigflow technology, which standardises and digitialises workflows in well construction.

“We’re excited to announce that we will be continuing the excellent collaboration that has now led to seven commitments for our rigs from Shell-affiliated operators in less than two years,” said COO Morten Kelstrup of Maersk Drilling.

The seventh-generation Maersk Voyager recently hit a new drilling world record for water depth offshore Angola.
