McDermott awarded offshore contract

HOUSTON, April 1, 2015 – US engineering, procurement, construction and installation company McDermott International has been awarded a contract by Chevron to carry out works on two of the super-major’s oilfields in the Gulf of Mexico.

McDermott will transport and install almost 50 kilometres of subsea umbilicals, jumpers, flying leads and manifolds at the Jack and St Malo offshore fields located 40 kilometres apart and about 450 kilometres south of New Orleans. The fields have a water depth of nearly 2,200 metres.

The company’s subsea construction vessel North Ocean 102 and derrick barge 50 will assist in installing equipment, expected to commence in early to mid-2016.

Energy Voice reported Scott Munro, McDermott’s vice president for the Americas, Europe and Africa, as saying, “This will be the second subsea project in the Jack and St Malo fields that McDermott has carried out for Chevron, which demonstrates confidence in our ability to install subsea facilities in such challenging deepwater environments.”
