Mexico launches 4th long-term power auction

MEXICO CITY, March 16, 2018 – The Energy Regulatory Commission and National Centre for Energy Control have put out a call for bids in Mexico’s fourth long-term power auction, local media reported Thursday.

The auction’s bidding terms are expected to be published at the end of March, while winners are to be announced in November, and contracts signed the following February.

Mexico’s previous three long-term power auctions, which began in 2015, have led to 70 new power projects, the majority of which are based on renewable sources. In total, the auctions have attracted investments worth USD 9 billion.
