FPSO at Starbroek Block in Guyana

Modec selects TMC Compressors for Guyana FPSO

OSLO, April 3, 2024 – Modec has selected Norwegian contractor TMC Compressors to supply a large-capacity marine compressed air system to its FPSO Errea Wittu, TMC announced on Wednesday.

Modec commenced construction on Errea Wittu in May, 2023, for deployment at ExxonMobil’s offshore Uaru field in Guyana, where it is also expected to produce from the Snoek and Mako plays on the Stabroek block.

TMC will manufacture and assemble the compression equipment in Europe.

Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development, said, “Our compressors have been developed solely for marine and offshore use. They are not land-based compressors that have been marinized. We believe this enables the most robust and reliable equipment, which is essential offshore.”

Errea Wittu is Modec’s fifth offshore FPSO in Guyana. It will be deployed approximately 200 kilometres offshore at a water depth of 1,690 metres. The vessel will have a topside production capacity of 250,000 bopd, gas treatment capacity of 15.3 mcm (540 mcf) per day, water injection capacity of 350,000 bpd, produced water capacity of 300,000 bpd and storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil.
