Murphy Oil awards offshore drilling contracts

HOUSTON, January 19, 2022 – Valaris has signed two contracts with US E&P company Murphy Oil for use of their semi-submersible Valaris DPS-5 in the US and Mexico, the American offshore rig provider announced on Tuesday.

The first one-well contract in the US’ Gulf of Mexico is expected to begin in March 2022, with an expected duration of 90 days. The second one-well contract offshore Mexico will begin immediately afterwards with an estimated duration of 60 days.

Cost of the agreement was not disclosed.

The Valaris DPS-5 is currently contracted by American upstream player Kosmos Energy for works in the US’ Gulf of Mexico for an estimated 105 days.
