Nigeria: NNPC output up more than 50% since 2023
LAGOS, December 11, 2025 – Nigeria’s NNPC E&P Limited (NEPL) has increased average daily oil production by more than 50% since 2023, reaching 312,000 bopd in Nigeria, the company said on Tuesday.
The growth marks a 52% rise from 203,000 bopd in 2023 and was driven by a focus on operational excellence, asset management and structured field development. On December 1, the company also recorded its highest single-day production at 355,000 bopd.
Group CEO Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari said the performance proves that “Nigeria’s energy revival is not a dream; it is already happening,” and shows that the systems and partnerships needed to scale output are being firmly established.
Udy Ntia, NNPC’s executive vice-president for upstream, said the company’s progress is based on responsible operations that prioritise safety, community wellbeing and environmental protection.
NEPL managing director Nicolas Foucart added the achievement reflects leadership, disciplined execution and a committed workforce.
NNPC E&P Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. It is responsible for the exploration and production of oil and gas resources in Nigeria, and is at the core of the country’s upstream strategy.
