Nigeria reaches FID on $3-bln methanol plant

LAGOS, February 2, 2021 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has reached an FID on the USD 3-billion Brass methanol plant, to be built in Bayelsa State.

 

The 10,000-tonne-per-day plant is to be jointly owned by NNPC, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and DSV Engineering. It will be operated by Brass Fertiliser and Petrochemical Company.

An FID ceremony was held on January 29, attended by representatives of NNPC, the NCDMB and DSV Engineering.

Shell will provide feedstock for the plant via 400 bcm (14 tcf) of gas reserves in the Niger Delta Brass area. The plant’s construction is to be complete by 2024.
